On Tuesday, May 19, Caffé Milani's headquarters in Lipomo hosted the internal selections for the international competition Espresso Italiano Champion, which rewards professionals capable of best interpreting authentic Italian espresso and cappuccino.
The baristas involved competed in the preparation of espresso and cappuccino according to the parameters of the Italian Espresso Institute, demonstrating speed, accuracy, and the ability to enhance every detail of the extraction.
The professionals who stepped up to the challenge were: Claudio Bongiovanni, Eric Venturi, Matteo Colzani, Francesca Togni, and Victoria Cervantes.
The winner, awarded by Mattia Milani, is Matteo Colzani, born in 1989, originally from Seregno. He will represent Caffé Milani in the Italian semi-final next June.
Matteo's journey into the world of coffee began in 2011 when he started managing the Veló coffee shop in Seregno with his father, developing a deep passion for coffee and the food service industry over time. From there, he chose to deepen his skills and knowledge through specialized training courses that led him to become an AICAF coffee master and a certified IIAC taster.
To Matteo, our congratulations and best of luck for the next steps of the competition. The race for the title of Espresso Italiano Champion continues!
