Awareness of sustainability is essential for any business that seeks to act virtuously. And the same principle applies to the bartender profession, which must have the ability to keep an open eye on the horizon and the future of the planet, in the broadest sense. This is why we decided to launch the first training course dedicated specifically to sustainability , Sustainable Barista , which starts its first edition on Monday 7 October at the Lipomo headquarters.
A unique, first-of-its-kind course focused on sustainability to make your business green and innovative. The course offers a guide to best practices for sustainability in bars, sustainable food ideas and offerings, and sustainability communication techniques.
Instructors of the course " SUSTAINABLE BARISTA: Zero waste behind the counter" They are industry professionals: Annalisa Renzi, an environmental and sensory trainer; Claudio Di Dio, a garden chef and expert in vegan cuisine; and Roberta Liberale and Massimo Giordani, communications and marketing experts.
The topics
The topics aim to give concrete advice and practical ideas to apply in your own business: from environmental impact analysis to practical work behind the counter, from creating a green menu to ways to communicate your values on social media. At the end of the training, students will have Develop the skills to begin to embrace the concept of sustainability —and develop an ecological awareness that allows you to apply key concepts and best practices to all aspects of daily life and work; implement responsible solutions in your business; analyze the coffee supply chain; structure a sustainable seasonal menu, from breakfast to light lunch to aperitifs, reusing and giving new life to even everyday ingredients; learn concepts and communication strategies that allow you to promote and disseminate your activities and values online in a direct and clear way.
The goals of the Sustainable Barista course were inspired by the objectives of the UN Agenda 2030 , signed on 25 September 2015 by 193 United Nations countries, including Italy, to share the commitment to guaranteeing a better future for our planet and the people who inhabit it, according to some specific points of action.
The themes we intend to convey during our course are quality education, decent work and economic growth, and responsible consumption and production, since research shows these issues are increasingly determining factors in consumer choices, with 62% of consumers considering sustainability a key factor in their purchasing decisions.
